Special Forces Unit At Ft. Bragg To Get New Leader

FORT BRAGG, N.C. -- Col. Gus Benton is preparing to take command of Fort Bragg's 3rd Special Forces Group.

The change of command ceremony is July 10 at Fort Bragg. Benton will relieve Col. Christopher K. Haas. Haas has been in command of the unit since 2006. He led the unit on two combat rotations to Afghanistan.
Benton served as the chief of staff of the Army's Special Operations command before coming to the 3rd Special Forces group.
Lt. Gen. Robert W. Wagner, commanding General of the Army Special Operations Command, will preside over the ceremony.
