HOLLY SPRINGS, N.C. -- Holly Springs budget proposal is complete, and in it is a way to help residents live more environmentally-friendly lives.

In the proposal, recycling bins would change from 18 gallon bins to 48 gallon roll out carts.

The recycling fee would increase for the larger carts. However, the garbage collection fee would decrease. In the end, solid waste bills will go down $1.10 a month.

Town officials say they carts are not only bigger to help people recycle more stuff -- they are also user friendly.

"And with a lid to keep materials dry and keep things from blowing out of the bins that we have now," said Mark Andrews, Holly Springs Public Information Officer.

The Holly Springs Town Council will have a work session on May 21, at 5:30 at the Town Hall to discuss the budget. Then the town will hold a public hearing, which is expected to occur on June 3.
