CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – A jogger struck by a transit bus on UNC's campus has died, officials said.

Police responded to the accident at about 10:56 a.m. on Manning Drive near South Columbia Street. 

The pedestrian, a white female age 20, was jogging on Manning Drive and attempted to cross the road.  The pedestrian and transit bus collided southeast of the intersection of South Columbia Street.  There was no designated crosswalk at the point of impact.

The pedestrian was transported to UNC Hospitals where she later died.  The name of the pedestrian has been withheld pending notification of relatives. The investigation is continuing.
