In a press release from Sen. Dole, she announces that the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) approved a $137,048,000 loan. The loan will be used to expand, renovate, and build a 101-bed tower and a freestanding outpatient center and emergency room in Clayton.

"I applaud Johnston Memorial Hospital for securing this significant loan to bolster its ability to care for patients," said Dole. "Additionally, the growth of the hospital will also increase its benefit for the local economy."

Currently the not-for-profit hospital has 175 beds.
